(More) 'Beer here' on Opening Day

The Bullpen

Opening Day at Nationals Park this year may not include a win for our beloved basement dwellers, but it will give fans more chances to drown their sorrows.

The Bullpen, the outdoor bar, music and food joint that has operated across the street from the center field gates on Half Street, has announced plans to open a beer garden on the same block, according to the blog JDLand. The beer garden would be at Half and M streets, facing the western exit of the Navy Yard Metro station.

According to JDLand, the new hangout would have 79 picnic tables and feature German beers and matching fare (kielbasa, German sausages and other coronary hazards). The Bullpen at Half and N streets will continue to operate this season but its future is uncertain as property owner Akridge has informed the Bullpen owners of plans to begin construction as early as October on the southern end of the block.
